Collaborator: Eliot Feenstra

At 9am on a summer morning in Berlin, the Art and Social Practice MFA cohort from Portland State University entered the Institut für alles Mögliche.  At 5pm that same day we opened the doors to the gallery presenting our show, The Institute for Everything is Possible.  The focus of my work, created in collaboration with Theater and Social Practice Artist, Eliot Feenstra, was loss.  We walked walked through the neighborhood speaking to shop keepers, pedestrians and other passers-by asking them to reflect on something they had lost recently.  What we heard was remarkable: stories of death, of bankruptcy and corruption, theft, mental illness, life transition and more. These interviews became the subject of our LOST poster series.   In furthering the collaboration, we asked each visitor to the gallery to draw a picture of and describe something they had recently lost.  All of these posters we hung on the gallery wall.
