Vagina Monologues

The Vagina Monologues

In Lands

E ve Ensler's book and play, "The Vagina Monologues", was created after she traveled around the world and interviewed women across the generations about their vaginas. What resulted is a heartfelt, hilarious, harrowing and enlightening series of monologues on this "forbidden" subject which are now produced in thousands of theaters, college campuses and community centers around the world and in over 15 languages.

This installation entitled "In Lands" was created to accompany the Boston/Harvard community production of "The Vagina Monologues". The casts were made on the bodies of the women in the performance and were inspired by conversations and personal testimonies from the women themselves. The inside of each cast was filled with an object - pink feathers, money, broken glass, chocolate frosting - that spoke to the nature of being a woman today. Our performance sold out 4 consecutive nights and raised over $15,000 to support programs that assist women victims of violence.
