THE RAINBOW TALLIT

S hoshana's Rainbow tallit is directly inspired by the vision of Reb Zalman Schachter Shalomi (www.pinenet.com/~rooster/tallis.html). Reb Zalman first envisioned the rainbow tallit in the 1950's in which each of the colors, as well as the width and arrangement of the stripes themselves, is based on the seven lower Sefirot (mystical levels) of the kabbalistic Tree of Life diagram, co-ordinated to the colors of the rainbow. Shoshana's Rainbow Tallit follows this vision. She uses raw silks from India and Syria that capture the essence of each Sefirah creating a unique color scale for each custom designed and crafted tallit. Her cape-like design and the addition of the hood turns this tallit into a spectacular coat of many colors.
